The Cats of Ulthar Card Game

The wildly successful “Cats of Ulthar” Card game was created by my company Gilgamesh Games. It was a lot of fun to be Art Director on this project. We tried to imagine what the Egyptian gods would look like if they were based in a Cthulu/Lovecraft environment. Then we threw in a bunch of cute kittens, and dangerous, albeit hilarious, situations. Based off the short story by H.P. Lovecraft, “The Cats of Ulthar” involved a lot of study of ancient gods, the Cthulu mythos, and of course, our feline friends. Here is a link to the Kickstarter Campaign.

Ancient Elder Gods

We started with the Egyptian gods in Cthulu style. I created the moodboards for the artist. See below. We focused mostly on actual Egyptian lore and even used one character from the Lovecraft world (that wasn’t Cthulu).
